• A small but vocal audience turned out for the AGM of the Sutton Poyntz Mission Hall Trust. Reports from Chairman Anthea Heathershaw and Treasurer John Allan were very positive. The hall had been used a great deal over the last year, leading to a sizeable increase in rental income, and demonstrating the worth of the facility to the local community. The windows had been painted, new external lighting installed and plumbing and water heating adjustments. The biggest improvement was the complete replacement of the ceiling in the hall, with acoustic panels employed to deaden sound levels, plus boarding above the kitchen which gave much needed storage space. The ceiling work was carried out thanks to a very generous donation from Barbara Harrison, and there was spontaneous applause when Bill Edgerton proposed a vote of thanks to Barbara. The Chairman and Treasurer were re-elected, as was Pam Dawson-Harris, the hardworking Secretary, together with the five committee members. All were heartily thanked for their efforts, and the meeting concluded with refreshment, provided, of course, by the committee!
